Sandy Springs Lantern Parade (in Place!)

Amber RandhawaWhat's Happening Around Atlanta

The 5th Annual Sandy Springs Lantern Parade is on! This year’s event will be a bit different though, as it will be a “parade-in-place” lighting up the city of Sandy Springs over the weekend of June 19-21 each night after sunset. Everyone in Sandy Springs is encouraged to participate by decorating their porches, balconies, yards, and windows. These twinkling lights and decorations are intended to support frontline workers and first responders.

Blue globe lanterns, illuminated parasols with blue trimmings, and “keep-safe” angel lantern kits will be available for purchase beginning June 5th at ACE Hardware located at Cornerstone Square in Sandy Springs (6348 Roswell Road, 30328). You can also click here for instructions on how to make a lantern kit from materials you probably already have at home. If you need more inspiration for your lantern, check out these lantern ideas,  workshop galleries, and  free coloring pages.

All parade-in-place participants are also encouraged to post to social media with the hashtag #paradeinplacesandysprings.  For more information, visit the Sandy Springs Lantern Parade event page here.
