Wildlife viewing is also a favorite activity in the park, which was designated a globally Important Bird Area in 2000, the first such designation in the state of Georgia. Other local parks are sprinkled throughout Kennesaw, including Big Shanty Park with is home to The Art Station – Big Shanty, with classrooms, a pottery studio and rotating exhibits in a historic cottage.
