Roswell Real Estate
Historic Roswell began in the 1830s as a cotton mill town, attracting wealthy investors from the south Georgia coast to flock to its picturesque riverbanks. Now almost 200 years later, Roswell is a favorite “OTP” suburb where you’ll find all the convenience of being near the downtown area, while the foothills of the North Georgia mountains linger on the distant horizon. History buffs will still find many remnants of Roswell’s origins, such as the many antebellum mansions open to tours. Barrington Hall, home of the city’s founder Roswell King, and Bulloch Hall, home to the mother of Theodore Roosevelt are local favorites. What’s left of the original cotton mill can be found at Old Mill Park featuring walking trails among the ruins. The Roswell Ghost Tour tells the stories of these places, and has been voted one of the best ghost tours in the nation.
Nature lovers will find ample greenspace, particularly along the banks of the Chattahoochee River in the multiple locations of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Enjoy hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing and tubing in this federally protected area. Leita Thompson Memorial Park on the north side of town is another favorite, with hiking trails, a community garden, dog park and art studio. Big Creek Park on the west side of town is a favorite of local mountain bikers and creek kayakers.
Downtown Roswell has become a favorite destination for a date night or afternoon shopping, with an active bar scene, art galleries, antique shops, boutiques and a weekly Saturday morning farmers market during the spring and summer. Roswell is also home to several popular annual festivals, such as the April Azalea festival and the Lavender Festival every June.
