Sweep the Hooch

Amber RandhawaWhat's Happening Around Atlanta

For the 10th year, the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper organization is sponsoring their Sweep the Hooch event. Volunteers will come together to walk, wade and paddle along the river and tributaries to clean up trash and remove waste. Over the past nine years, more than 113 tons of trash has been removed by over 5,600 volunteers.

This year there will be enhanced safety guidelines in place for the event due to Covid-19. Volunteers will be required to wear masks and maintain 6 feet of social distance from others. Gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided, but it will greatly help the organization if volunteers bring their own.
