Is It Time to Update Your Bathroom?

Amber RandhawaHomeowner and Homebuyer Tips, Interior Decorating

You hear a great deal about making sure your bedroom is a haven of relaxation, a place where you can go to de-stress and unwind after a hectic day. But what about your master bathroom? Being able to indulge in a long shower or lavender-scented bubble bath is vitally important when you’ve spent all day meeting deadlines and corralling kids. If you haven’t looked around your bathroom with a critical eye in awhile, now is a great time to check and see if there are any telltale signs that it’s time to make some updates to your master bathroom.

Lackluster Lighting

You likely spend the majority of your time getting ready for your day in the bathroom, from showering and shaving to hair and makeup. Why settle for anything less that the best when it comes to lighting up your morning routine? If your light fixtures are old and dingy, you should consider replacing them completely. Or, you might just need to make the change to some newer, better bulbs that better mimic natural light. And don’t forget to make good use of any windows in your bathroom – there’s no light like sunlight after all!

Inadequate Storage

Pedestal sinks can be beautiful in a powder room, but in a master bathroom you likely need the storage space that comes with a larger vanity. If you are missing out on the cabinet and drawer space needed to store extra towels and grooming products, it may be time for a vanity overhaul. This is an especially nice upgrade if you do not have a linen closet in your master bathroom, and you aren’t looking to sacrifice space from your master closet or dressing room.

Outdated Color Scheme

If you have lived in your home awhile, chances are good trends have changed when it comes to paint colors. You may have even lived in your home long enough to still have wallpaper hanging in your bathroom. A fresh coat of paint in a new color scheme is a great way to transform your bathroom without breaking the bank or busting down walls. If your current color scheme is a drab version of “neutral,” consider brightening things up with an accent wall in a vibrant color. On the other hand, if you’ve grown tired of a neon shade that was trendy several years ago, maybe now is the time to go for a neutral gray or cream tone.

Bigger Issues

If your master bathroom is causing you a bigger headache than a new vanity or coat of paint can fix, consider going ahead and tackling the issue. Whether you have been avoiding repairing a leaking bathtub or unsteady toilet due to time or money constraints, you can only run from a problem that is right under your nose for so long. Having items in your home that are in disrepair can cause you unnecessary stress even when you aren’t in the room with them. There is no time like the present to rid yourself of unneeded stress! For major leaks and repairs be sure to contact a local professional to get the job done quickly and completely.
