Helping Out in Smyrna

Amber RandhawaGiving Back, What's Happening Around Atlanta

The City of Smyrna has teamed up with chef Rusty Hamlin and Smyrna United Methodist Church’s Tillman House to serve meals to Smyrna families who are facing difficult times due to the Coronavirus. Hamlin is the owner and executive chef at Atkins Park in Smyrna, and also spent many years as the executive chef for the Zac Brown Band. Tillman House is the Mission and Outreach campus for Smyrna UMC, where recovery groups, other smaller neighborhood churches and service ministries meet each week.

Beginning tomorrow, and continuing for the rest of April, this team will provide at least 100 meals each day Smyrna residents needing assistance. Over $5,000 has already been raised for these efforts.

We love hearing about how local groups in Atlanta are working together to help other Atlantans! Atkins Park continues to operate for take-out preorders. Follow Atkins Park Smyrna’s Facebook feed for menus! You can also follow along as they assist the community. In addition to their work with the City of Smyrna to supply meals to residents, they are also helping to feed local first responders in the community as well!
