Have an “A-mazing” Fall!

Amber RandhawaWhat's Happening Around Atlanta

Along with apple picking and football tailgates, another of our favorite fall activities is a visit to a family farm, complete with corn maze, pumpkin patch and hayride! Not surprisingly, many of these farms are located in rural north Georgia – well outside the metro Atlanta area. But you’re in luck! There are still several great pumpkin patches and corn mazes located only a short drive outside of the perimeter. Check out this list of great agritourism destinations where you can celebrate the fall season down on the farm!

Buford Corn Maze

Rodney Miller still owns an 800 acre farm in his hometown in Southern Illinois, but in 2009 he brought his love for agritourism to the Atlanta area, when he and his business partners opened the Buford Corn Maze. The farm includes other family-friendly farm favorites like a petting zoo, hayrides, pumpkin patch and pony rides.

Sleepy Hollow Farm

Sleepy Hollow Farm began as a Christmas tree farm in 1980, and is now open throughout the year for parties and events, and for annual spring and fall activities. During the fall season you can find 60 acres of fun including the corn maze, pumpkin patch, wagon rides, farm playground and an outdoor escape room.

Still Family Farm

Believe it or not, the Still Family Farm has been passed down through the same family since 1837. Today the farm plays host to many fall activities, such as a pumpkin patch, hay ride, and antique tractor display.  The most unique activity at Still Family Farm is the maze – it’s not made of corn, but instead is cut into a five acre field of blooming zinnias.

Warbington Farms

This family farm began in 1968, raising beef cattle and hens. After years in the commercial farming business, the farm switched gears in 2010, converting the egg packing room into a bridal suite, and opening their doors to weddings and special events. Spring is pick-your-own strawberry time on their 3 acre spread of berries, and fall fun includes the corn maze, pumpkin patch, petting zoo and hayrides.

Yule Forest Farm

As the name implies, Yule Forest started as a Christmas Tree farm in 1983. In 1988 the farm expanded their operations into the fall season, opening a pumpkin patch and educational program for local school tours. Fall fun now also includes the Fear the Woods haunted attraction, hayrides, petting zoo and the Hay Maze, constructed from hundreds of hay bales.
