For 14 years, the Decatur Book Festival has been one of the most popular book festivals in the country. Each Labor Day weekend, tens of thousands of book lovers flock to downtown Decatur to participate in lectures, signings, and meet & greets with their favorite authors. This year organizers have decided a large-scale, in-person event is simply unsafe at this time, so they are taking the event online! Beginning on the Friday of Labor Day weekend and continuing through September, the festival will present 40 virtual events, such as panels, discussions and author presentations.

According to poet and Emory University professor Jericho Brown who will present the keynote address, “It is more like a nightly TV show for a few weeks, which I think is beautiful.” The online presentations, which will take place on the Crowdcast platform, will include an “ask a question” feature that will give audience members the opportunity to interact with authors.

The full schedule of events will be available on the AJC Decatur Book Festival website, beginning August 12th.

When: September 4th – October 4th
