Atlanta’s Newest Restaurants

Amber RandhawaWhat's Happening Around Atlanta

Even in these challenging times for the restaurant industry, new establishments are popping up across the city, giving those ready to dine out and those continuing to order takeout new options for tasty treats. Let us introduce you to a few new (and also familiar) spots that are opening up around town this summer!

Aviva by Kameel

The second location of this popular Mediterranean food stall was set to open in March, but this was delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic. Now you can expect to see the new location open in The Collective Food Hall at Coda on July 7th. Popular dishes will include falafel, chicken shawarma, baba ghanoush, Nazareth salad, and baklava.

Lake & Oak BBQ

Lake & Oak opened in the East Lake neighborhood on Friday, July 3rd, though currently they are accepting takeout orders only. A patio is available for dining, but no date has been set so far for inside seating. Lake & Oak uses classic BBQ techniques with meats smoked using a combination of charcoal and white oak and pecan woods. Currently the menu includes favorites like ribs, smoked wings, and brisket, along with sides like slaw, and smoked mac and cheese.

Pollo Supremo

Nhan Le of Octopus Bar and 8ARM is set to open a new counter-serve restaurant called Pollo Supremo with his Supremo Taco partner chef Duane Kulers in East Atlanta this September. You can expect to see menu items such as pollo asado, sides like rice and beans and elote, soup, family meals, and desserts such as churros and flan. The Coronavirus pandemic is certainly having it’s effect on planning for the new outpost, as plans call for the restaurant to include a drive-thru and 40 seat patio, with seating for only 12 indoors.

Yumbii

This Korean taco and burrito restaurant has been open on Peachtree Road since 2010, and their second location in the Toco Hills shopping center on North Druid Hills Road is slated to open in August. As of right now, Yumbii’s new location is expected to feature dine-in service along with online ordering. Expect an expanded menu compared to the current location, with an additional focus on their drink menu as well.
