Atlanta Attractions Reopening

Amber RandhawaWhat's Happening Around Atlanta

Nearly three months after the majority of Atlanta’s tourist attractions closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, some of Atlanta’s most popular destinations for family fun are starting to reopen. There will be changes however, from limits on the number of visitors who can enter a facility at once, to mask requirements and temperature scans. Read on for more information about some of the locations reopening, and what will be different when you go.

Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags over Georgia has announced that they will reopen to members and season pass holders on June 15th. For the first week, Six Flags will operate at reduced capacity, then will open to the general public on June 22nd. New safety procedures in place include requiring all employees and guests over the age of 2 to wear masks that cover the nose and mouth while at the park. Masks can be purchased at the park if you do not bring your own. Guests and employees will also have their temperatures checked before being allowed to enter. Be prepared for changes in how you wait in line and ride the rides as well, with markers indicating six feet of distance in queues, and empty rows separating roller coaster riders. You can read more about the new precautions being taken by Six Flags here.

Six Flags White Water

Six Flags White Water will begin welcoming guests on June 29th, again, only for season pass holders and members at first. White Water will be operating at a limited capacity for the first four days it is open, with the general public allowed in beginning on July 3rd. White Water will have extensive cleaning procedures in place, but due to the nature of the attraction, masks will not be required. Social distancing in ride lines will however be in effect. Georgia Aquarium

Aquarium members will be able to get the first glance of Atlanta’s new baby beluga whale beginning on June 13th. The general public will be welcomed back beginning on June 15th. Guests will need to reserve a timed ticket, which will assist aquarium staff in monitoring and limiting capacity. Between time blocks, the entire aquarium will close for deep cleaning. Guests and staff members alike will have a contactless temperature scan prior to entering the facility, and all guests are encouraged to wear masks.
